Tango Fundamentals 2

The Tango Fundamental 2 course is designed to prepare you to dance socially in a milonga.

This class is for you if you have completed our Tango Fundamentals 1 course, or if you already know the basic movement patterns of tango.

To join Tango Fundamentals 2 you need to be confident walking with a partner in open embrace and you should be able to lead or follow the ocho cortado, the forward and backward ocho and the cross step. However, we will revise all of these steps in this 6 week course.

We will also work on musicality and floorcraft while introducing more complex steps such as the parada and walking in the cross system. We will practice in the open and close embrace and introduce you to the tango vals (waltz) and milonga music.

“Tango is so much fun, you owe it to yourself to try it for at least a couple of months!”
Joseph

If you book with a partner your place will be confirmed immediately.

If you book on your own, please state which role you wish to dance (leader or follower) so we can balance the numbers. We will put you on a waiting list until someone from the opposite role books.

FAQs

What shall I wear?

Anything you feel comfortable in and can move in. There's no need to dress any particular way.

What shoes shall I wear?

If you have them, wear shoes that you can pivot in - i.e., shoes that don't grip to a wooden floor. Leather soled shoes are ideal. For more information about shoes take a look at this blog post: What shoes should I get for tango?

I've danced a bit of tango already. Is this the right course for me?

This course is designed for absolute beginners. Take a look at Which course is right for me? to see exactly what we teach on Tango Fundamentals. If you already know the moves in Fundamentals, you may prefer to join our Improvers course.

I booked with a partner, do I need to change partners during the class?

We invite couples to change partners often during the class, but you are more than welcome to stay with the partner you booked with for the whole class.

Is there parking at the venue?

There is plenty of on-street car parking on St Paul's Road and Glisson Road.

There are lots of cycle racks by the church entrance.
